Description:
Highly variable colours and markings, from earth-tones to golden-yellow and orange. Knobby podia on surface often in contrasting colours. 3 rows of podia on sole; centre row wide and split by seam. The mouth is located ventrally and surrounded by about 20 large tentacles.
Juveniles: Cream to yellow with large knobs and reddish spots.
Ecology
Sand and seagrass beds to 200ft (70m).
Life Cycle
Spawning and fertilization are both external. Embryos develop into planktotrophic larvae (auricularia) then into doliolaria (barrel-shaped stage) which later metamorphose into juvenile sea cucumbers
