Dusky Damselfish Juvenile
Description:
Adult: Vary from light to dark chocolate brown. Dorsal and anal fins do not extend beyond where tail fin rays join the tail base. narrow dark edge on anal fin, not blue as found in Longfin and no yellow on top of eye as found in Longfin and Threesot Damselfishes.
.Juveniles: Juveniles are reddish orange above, with small bright blue spots on forehead and dark, blue edged spots on rear of dorsal fin and on upper caudal peduncle
Ecology
Adults inhabit rocky shores and shallow reefs exposed to wave action. Usually <5m depth. Often in tide pools. Feed primarily on algae and detritus. Territorial and pugnacious. Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding . Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate. Males guard and aerate the eggs
