Carapace up to 10cm. 

Description
:
Reddish-brown , bristled carapace and walking legs.
Numerous spines. Sharp spines line the front edge of the wrist section. Pale claws with spatualate tips and walking legs with white/ reddish banded tips.

Differentiation from other Mithrax spp:  Carapace as wide between tips of third antero-lateral spines as between tips of fourth spines. Carapace closely granulate, tuberculate and densely pilose. Spines on proximal half of upper surface of palm. Three or four spines on propodites of legs. Light gray with circular red spots.



Ecology
In caves and recesses overhangs at depths from 6 to 45ft (2-15m). Forages in the open at night. Feeds on algae and carrion.
