Description:
Pale to tan body.  Distinctive
dark bar runs vertically through eyes and below and across top of head.  Dusky spots and squareish blotches along lower body.  Goldish spot, outlined in black above pectoral fin (may not be obvious in some). Thick lips, often with dark lvertical lines (may be absent0.

Ecology
Demersal on open sand, rock, and rubble areas, often near coral reefs or coral rubble. From  0.3 to 50m (2-150ft). Often occurs with the Bridled Goby, Coryphopterus glaucofraenum. Feeds on organisms and organic material by taking sand into its mouth and expelling it through the gill openings, filtering out its food in the process.
